Response from the Sheriff
In response to your letter I first want to thank you for taking the time to learn the truth regarding the dilemma this county faces. Secondly to thank you for the public letter which wasn’t necessary.
At our first meeting, I was not offended by your statement regarding not voting for the LEVY. I too am a conservative, and feel we have been overly burdened by far too many taxes, big government, runaway fuel prices, insurance, health costs, no jobs, wasteful spending, and so on. In fact, many of these issues inspired me to run for Sheriff. I felt there was a better way to do things and I wanted to be a part of making those changes.
You certainly do not owe us an apology. Many others shared your opinion and that also is understandable. For years the citizens have heard the county government crying “Wolf” only to later find the money necessary to carry us through until the inevitable crisis the following year. It is only natural for one to assume you are again being mislead.
I only wish others, like you, would take the time to learn the facts before posturing a knee-jerk reaction. To not support law enforcement is hurting who – ourselves.
Best Regards,
Gil
