United States Air Force 1964-1966 enlisted, 1966 - 1988 officer (retired); F-4 Phantom Weapon Systems Instructor; Chief of Intelligence Division; Supervisor of Flying; Executive Director Grants Pass/Josephine County Chamber of Commerce 1990-2004.
EDUCATIONAL BACKGROUND:
Graduated Medford High School 1964; Air Force Academy, Bachelor’s Degree in Latin American Affairs 1970; Troy State University, Master’s Degree in Business Administration 1974; Air Command and Staff College 1979; Air War College 1985.
GOVERNMENTAL EXPERIENCE:
U.S. Air Force; Past Chair Board of Commissioners; Past Chair Commission on
Children and Families; Vice-Chair District 8, Association of Oregon Counties; Vice-Chair Job Council; Southern Oregon Regional Economic Development Inc. Board; Local Public Safety Coordinating Council; Public Transportation Advisory Council.
Family: Dwight was born in Medford, OR. After graduating from the Air Force Academy, he married Bonnie Valker from Grants Pass. In June, Dwight and Bonnie will celebrate their 38th anniversary. They have four children. After retiring from the military, Dwight moved to Grants Pass to raise his family in his beloved Southern Oregon.
Jobs: Dwight has worked hard to “grow our own” local businesses. As a founding member of the city/chamber Business Retention and Expansion Committee, he helped develop a program that received an international award for saving and creating hundreds of local jobs.
Public Safety: Dwight’s first priority is to ensure the safety of Josephine County citizens–protected by a criminal justice system that guards personal rights, property, and possessions.
Property rights: Dwight supports private property rights. He will continue the fight to stop State and Federal government interference in local affairs.
