Jack A. (Auto Doc) Brown JR.

OCCUPATION:
Automotive Technician.

OCCUPATIONAL BACKGROUND:
Saw Filer.

EDUCATIONAL BACKGROUND:
New Hope Christian School high school graduate with honors.

GOVERNMENTAL EXPERIENCE:
None.

Jack Brown is committed to:
• unburdening the taxpayers from nice-to-have but unnecessary programs by instituting a pay per use fee structure for parks and libraries, as was done by turning the county swimming pool over to the YMCA.

• adopting a justice of the peace court system to keep more of the money in the county that is generated by fines, as Douglas County does.

• forcing back on the state un-funded mandates it placed on the county, e.g. the district court, district attorney, building and safety, and animal control, then renting the buildings currently in use by those programs to the state agencies at fair market value, thus generating an income stream for essential county services.

• removing the county from competition with private enterprise in areas like road-building and vehicle maintenance, then liquidating massive assets accumulated while running these programs in the past to finance the contracts with private enterprise for years to come.

• liquidating unnecessary assets held by the county to generate operating revenue, instead of giving away valuable, salable county property to private charities, like was done with the old hospital complex.

• securing ‘in-lieu-of property tax’ payments from the federal government for lands it owns in our county.

• demanding return of unconstitutionally held federal lands in the county, instead of letting them keep lands they took back. We are not the Oregon Territory anymore!

Jack Brown has been in the fight for 32 years! Jack Brown will continue to fight for all our rights. Jack Brown will defend us from a county manager, burdensome tax levies, and unconstitutional regulations.

Isn’t it time to have a commissioner with integrity, common sense, AND backbone?
